'Tis a most curious observation...

Reading back through this assortment of thoughts, hushed messages and madness, it truly does seem as if, for the most part, only the most maniacal and sure to fail possess the ambition necessary to actively desire possessing this poisoned chalice we presently call 'home'.

Power, I understand.

Insanity, I do not.

The next time one of you contemplates this, might I suggest the very act of doing so does nothing but justify your being kept here?

A wise man once said, "Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Which is a problem, if one does not have power." To be stripped of it means they'll clutch it however they can, even if it is through the inferior means of this ship.

Though there certainly have been worse times the ship was overrun.

Surely, they must realise subjugation will earn them nothing in a place where enemies cannot be disposed of?

He seemed fairly sane to me. A troublesome inconvenience, but sane.

He was utterly incompetent.

Anyone who seeks to own a place like this is either severely misinformed or lacking in intelligence.

I wouldn't say lacking in intelligence. Perhaps if they were to take the place of the Admiral, they may be quite intelligent, and simply wish to be able to go to a different time and place. Though I admit, I see little point in simply taking over without control over where the Barge travels simply to lord over the residents here.

And since when has our valiant Admiral ever given an impression of truly being in control?

I suspect them held captive, truth be told. Or perhaps enslaved to some nonsensical wish of their own, such as love.

I've always suspected his lack of control was more due to his choice of beverages than being any sort of captive.

I would not like to imagine what passes for beverage at that table.

Perhaps the next person to seize the barge will do so out of severely misplaced goodwill. Would that still fall in the spectrum of insanity?
