Text: Lessons

Different paths, different worlds... From what I read in the library, there exist any number of such examples gathered here, upon this voyage. And until given student to guide, I can do little more but refine my education while aboard ship.

But if there is one thing which puzzles me in the literature I find of other times and places, it is this: Why, for some of you, is the subject of magic treated with such disbelief?

'Tis a tool like any other... Can be felt, used, developed and controlled. Is it mere ignorance which prevents some from learning of it? Or perhaps something deeper?

After all, where so many desire power, it seems strange, indeed, not to harness the arcane.

It flat-out doesn't exist in my world.

It was proven a million times over. "Magic" back home consists of party entertainment using sleight of hand.

Don't be so fucking egotistical as to think that the laws of your world govern everyone else's as well.

It's basic biology. Go to the library and read up on it, for fuck's sake. Nothing in my world uses magic to live. Nothing uses magic to function there. Why the fuck do you think technology came to be?

Magic? Until I came onto this ship I thought magic was make believe. We told kids stories about it, but no one experienced it.

Honestly, if we had magic in my world, I would have mastered it. Instead, I spent my time learning about chemistry, a magic of it's own I doubt your world knows much about.

To the naive maybe. What is magic really, but one thing reacting to another invisible and causing a shocking reaction? Chemistry and magic are pretty close, least I think so.

I am unsure. In my own world, magic is commonplace. But people are usually the same everywhere; willfully ignorant, blinding themselves to what they do not understand.

Of course, it may be simply that magic is not usable for those of different worlds. There is no way for them to find it, if it exists there.

People don't believe in magic's existence, here? How can they possibly explain where we are?
youwillgotohell: (yeah you better be afraid)

Would that wasn't so true, but some prefer their ignorance.
youwillgotohell: (I am so not sure what to make of this)

Advantage of their ignorance? I can't believe no one has.

My [Father AUGH PRETENDING right] guardian would no doubt be much happier there.

He's fought to eradicate the magic, and the Old Religion, for years.
